Pottsville Turtle Hatchlings
An exploration into electronica to accompany the magnificent entrance of this baby turtle into the ocean’s shallows for the very first time! Being sensitive to the certainty that so much life is happening on our shorelines, beach and dunes will assist all this wonderous environment that we indulge in to be more sustainable. Jimmy The Lark
In June 2023, I finalised a composition commission for a childhood friend.He wanted something special to give to his Dad for his 80th birthday. I was in the privileged position of knowing my friend and his family for decades. As we talked and brainstormed back and forth, the direction of the piece became clearer and clearer. The brief was to make it fun. Lively. In total, between working full time and my active family life the piece emerged bright as a button in about 4 months. This man’s journey through his 9 decades of fruitful living, came to life in a very special way through the music, and not only was the family (and the birthday boy) deeply touched by the result, but I was utterly delighted as well. At its core, my music is a way of exploring love, humanity, and the universal life force — and of finding my place within it.
Over the past two years, I have brought together three lifelong passions: electronic music composition, choral sound, and sacred music. Weaving these elements together, particularly through the poetry of the Sufi mystics and the voices of lesser-known female mystics and saints, has been both a revelation and a deep joy.
